Mizzou vs. Arkansas: Battle Line Rivalry

 

Last week was a great moral victory for us!  We only lost to Alabama by 7.  Usually we would be losing by 40 by halftime.  What's funny is that we are still ranked and Alabama went down from #2 to #3 after that game.  It looks like the College Football Playoff noticed how well we played and how vulnerable Alabama looks.  Hopefully tomorrow, we will have another win for us to bring us to 8-4.  Do you know when the last time we went 8-4 in the regular season?  It was 2007 when we had legends like Darren McFadden, Peyton Hillis, and Felix Jones.  To get that 8th win, we beat #1 LSU in triple overtime.  It was a great game.  I want more great victories like that one.  But this week, I hope we have a sound victory over Missouri.  It's at home and so I'm going to attend the game myself.

Let's See About Bama

 

It is finally this week for the Razorbacks. Bama week.  Of course we will probably not win this one because, it's Alabama.  But we are better than we have been the past few seasons.  Right now in 2021, we have the same amount of wins (7) that we've accumulated for the 2018-2020 seasons combined.  We did beat Texas A&M whom is Alabama's only loss and we beat LSU last week who had Alabama running for their money too.  Our worst loss was against Georgia this year (37-0), but I think Alabama isn't as good as Georgia so we might not lose to them as badly or we might have a chance to make it a closer game.  I don't see us winning but I would love to be so wrong today. We'll just see how things go.  I'm just going to look like Squidward below while watching and hoping things go good.

The Battle for the Boot!

 

It's that week of football again.  It's the Battle for the Golden Boot.  We haven't beaten LSU since 2015 and I am anxious for it to happen.  But I have mixed feelings on how the game will actually go.  It is an away game for us so LSU has that advantage.  But they are 4-5 and they tend to have a 50/50 chance of either performing well or mediocre this year just on what I've observed.  They had Alabama running for their money last week but also lost by double digits to Kentucky who lost to Mississippi State whom we beat last week.  We will see how it goes but I think this is our best chance to beat them in years now.  

The Battle for the Golden Boot in 2011 was interesting, just to do a little flashback from 10 years ago.  I remember for that week, LSU was #1, Alabama #2, and Arkansas #3.  See why that is interesting?  We haven't been as good as we were back then in Bobby Petrino's last year before the whole motorcycle incident.  Of course we lost that game but just imagine if we won and went to the National Championship against Alabama.  The player that had all of the hype that year was none other than Tyrann Mathieu pictured below.

Yeah we didn't do well against him that year.  But still, we went 11-2 that season. Oooohhhh man I would like us to be that good again!

The bye week is over and now it is time to get back on track.  We are favored to beat Mississippi State and they are ranked.  Hopefully if we win, we'll be ranked too.  That means that we'll get a ranking in the College Football Playoff rankings for the first time in a long time!  It was in 2016 that we were last ranked in the College Football Playoff rankings.  We just need to play well and take advantage of being at home for this game.

Win This Week, Rest Up Next Week

 

These past couple of games have been hard ones to get over.  We started out as 4-0 and now we are 4-3.  It's good that we have an easy opponent to play this week and then a bye week.  This is a great opportunity for us to gain some confidence back and rest up.  After this game, the Razorbacks would play 8 straight games without a bye week.  Going so long without a bye week could be a reason why we haven't played as well the past few games.  Getting this rest will definitely help out the rest of the season for us.  As of now, I think we could go 7-5 or 8-4 at best to finish the regular season.  Mississippi State and Missouri seem winnable games.  Alabama doesn't seem likely but LSU seems 50/50 to me because they are sometimes good and sometimes not.  Let's just get this easy win this week and rest well during the bye week and hopefully we can have a good end to the regular season.

Ohhh boy I really want us to win this week.  Last week was not good for my blood pressure.  I do agree with going for the 2-point conversion at the end last week, but I would've gone with a different play.  Anyways, we still look competitive and this week will be some sweet revenge against Auburn last year.  Considering that last year they won by a field goal after their QB Bo Nix "spiked" the football backwards and wasn't called a fumble or the play was already dead.  A major officiating error costed the game at the end and I want us to pummel Auburn at home this year.
